Do I own my website or do you?

You own it entirely. Your website is built on WordPress, which means it belongs to you and nobody else. I build it, hand it over, and it’s yours to keep regardless of whether we continue working together.

Do I own my domain name?

Yes. Your domain name is registered in your name and paid for by you directly. I’ll help you set it up but it’s yours from day one.

What happens if I want to leave — can I take my site with me?

Absolutely. Because everything is built on WordPress and hosted on your own hosting account, you can take your site anywhere you like. There’s nothing proprietary, nothing locked in. If you wanted to bring in another developer tomorrow, everything is in a completely standard format they could work with.

I’m not technical — how much will I need to do myself?

Very little during the build — that’s my job. Once the site is live I’ll show you how to make simple updates like changing text or adding a blog post, which most people find straightforward once they’ve been shown. If you’d rather not touch it at all, the monthly maintenance package means I handle everything..

Can I make changes to my own site once it’s built?

WordPress allows straightforward edits for those who want to make them. If you’d prefer I handle updates and changes for you I offer that charged by the half hour of my time.

What if something goes wrong or the site goes down?

Your hosting is with Stablepoint, a UK-based company with 24/7 technical support, so any server-level issue is their responsibility to fix around the clock. For anything WordPress-related — a plugin conflict, something looking wrong — that’s what the monthly maintenance package covers. Between the two you’re well looked after.

What does the monthly maintenance package cover?

The £35/month covers the technical upkeep — WordPress and plugin updates, security monitoring and backup checks. Changes to content, adding new pages or updated images are charged separately. I’ll always quote before doing anything additional.

How long will it take to build my site?

It depends on how quickly we can get the content together — your images, any copy you want to provide, and your decisions on colours and style. From having everything in hand, a straightforward three-page site typically takes one to two weeks. I’ll always give you a realistic timeframe before we start.

I’m not sure what to write — can you help with the words?

Yes, absolutely. I’m a trained writer and I’ve spent over twenty-five years in health, wellness and therapy — I understand your terminology, your clients and what you need to say. Help with copy is included as standard, not an extra.

Will my site show up on Google?

Every site I build includes SEO foundations — Google Search Console setup, meta descriptions, page titles, image optimisation and site speed. That gives you the best possible start. Appearing prominently in search results takes time and depends on your content and location, but you’ll be properly set up from day one rather than invisible.

What do I actually need to provide you with to get started?

Broadly: an idea of what you do and who your clients are, any images you have (don’t worry if you don’t — I can source stock photography), and any copy you’d like to use if you have it. Beyond that I’ll guide you through everything else. Most clients find the process much simpler than they expected.
